A specialization in jewellery will enable you to transform precious metals, stones and other materials into jewellery and to perform all the tasks involved in designing, manufacturing and managing a piece of jewellery.

About the program

Program objectives
Covering personal expression, a chosen method of production and the realities of the market, this program is indeed an ambitious one. Using a material and technique of choice, artisans must create, fabricate and share works of produced objects. The manner in which the program is structured reflects the ongoing relationship between creation and the management of the resulting object.

Jewellery
This specialization trains individuals to become artisans specialized in processing precious metals and other materials. Graduates will be capable of designing and making jewellery and handling all management tasks related to this profession.

They can create jewellery or objects in a limited series or based on special orders as well as uniques pieces serving a decorative or utilitarian purpose or that are simply the result of artistic expression.

Jewellery is created using a variety of techniques which include: transforming previous metals into alloys of different types, forming and assembling various elements in preparation for creating a piece of jewellery, sculpting and modeling prototypes, integrating gemstones, ornaments, organic materials or functional elements, reproducing jewellery or parts of a particular piece and, lastly, do finishing work or complete surface treatments.

Jewellery makers also perform administrative and commercial tasks related to starting-up, organizing and managing a workshop or small business, marketing products, conducting customer follow-ups and handling research and development.

The program aims to provide individuals with the skills they need to work in production workshops, jewellery repair shops or in retail stores as jewellers, designers or consultants. They can also be self-employed.
