Farm Management and Technology

On completion of this course, you will be able to manage an agricultural enterprise. You will be able to plan, organize, direct and control the operation and development of an agricultural production enterprise in the fields of animal or crop production.

About the program

Program objectives
This program trains individuals to become farm management and technology specialists who are capable of managing and operating a modern agricultural enterprise. These individuals are responsible for planning, organizing, overseeing and monitoring operations and development activities for a farming enterprise specialized in livestock or crop production. Fulfilling the duties of this profession requires knowledge and skills pertaining to management, entrepreneurship and the technologies used in agricultural production.

Specialization A, Livestock covers the following types of production: dairy, cattle, hog, sheep and goat, chicken (eggs and poultry), etc.

Specialization B, Crops covers both horticultural production (fruits, vegetables, ornamental plants) which takes place either in the field or in a controlled environment and the production of grain crops (cereals, corn, feed, oilseed plants, etc.).

Certain schools have developed specializations in certain areas (sustainable agriculture, greenhouse cultivation, organic farming of fruits and vegetables, etc.). Contact your college of choice for more information.

Harmonization of college programs has resulted in a continuity between the Diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP or diploma of vocational studies) in dairy production, cattle production or hog production and the Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC or diploma of college studies) in Farm Management and Technology. This has significantly reduced the duration of study for those who hold a DEP.
